On October 28, 2024, Xiaomi EV completed its lap speed challenge on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieving a time of 6'46"874 and thereby breaking the seven-year-old fastest four-door car lap record at the Nürburgring.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife is renowned worldwide for its extreme difficulty, complexity, and challenge, making it a dream venue for testing vehicle performance, tuning, and reliability among global car enthusiasts. Since 2014, only seven pure electric vehicles have made it onto the Nürburgring list. Xiaomi EV officially announced its intention to compete on the Nürburgring track in July, intending to become the "fastest four-door electric car at the Nürburgring within ten years." Xiaomi EV's challenge plan is divided into two phases: the first phase involves using a prototype car to challenge the non-production lap records at the Nürburgring in October 2024; the second phase aims to use a production model to officially target the production car lap records at the Nürburgring in 2025.
To successfully tackle the Nürburgring, Xiaomi EV's R&D team was stationed at the track, conducting extensive repetitive tests and product tuning upgrades. It is encouraging that during its first official attempt at the Nürburgring, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype achieved an impressive time of 6'46"874. This marks a splendid milestone for Xiaomi EV, just three years into its journey.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype, showing off its capabilities on the Nürburgring, is equipped with Xiaomi EV’s self-developed V8s super motor for the first time and features a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system comprised of two V8s and one V6s, delivering a combined maximum power output of 1548 PS. This setup allows the SU7 Ultra Prototype to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 1.97 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. The advanced three-electric system, chassis torque vector control, and aerodynamic design have laid a solid foundation for establishing this new four-door car record.
This achievement is just the beginning for Xiaomi EV in Nürburgring.
